
The Pelagian Islands are the jewel of the southern part of the national system of marine protected areas Italian. Enclose the Pelagie Islands, in one archipelago treasures and environmental characteristics that belong to two separate continents: Africa and Europe. Almost a bridge across the Mediterranean, they demonstrate the interdependence of ecological dynamics from which it can not be ignored in any program of environmental protection. The white Lampedusa, the black Linosa and the remote island of Lampione, home of careful environmental protection policies, now represent a new contribution to the challenge of sustainability in Italy.
